Trying to devalue and scam for a profit
Bait and Switch scam
Based on my experience in attempting to SELL an iPhone to Gazelle, I would not do business with them if they were giving away phones for free. In their marketing to solicit upgraders to sell their used phones, they bait-and-switch their offers, claiming defects where there are none, and outright lying about phones sent in to them, in order to justify lowering the offering price.
I suspect that their business model depends upon most sellers of used phones concluding that since Gazelle already has the phone, they should just accept $10 less than they expected to receive. When I refused to play their game, they didn't return my phone as promised until I called twice to enquire about it.
Their customer service people are clueless, and arrogant as well. Terrible company.!

My iPhone 6s recently died, but was insured. I received a brand new iPhone 7s, but decided to sell it to Gazelle, since I plan on purchasing the iPhone X when it comes out.
I mailed my new iPhone 7s in its original box to Gazelle. After a few weeks, they emailed me offering me less money because they claimed it was not "flawless" as described. I asked them to send it back to me. When I received it, it was flawless; but, Gazelle failed to send back the charging cord, power adapter, headphones and headphone adapter.
I priced these items new at the Apple Store-$82. I called and spoke with Gizelle and Darlene at Gazelle and was told they would not send them back to me or reimburse me for the items.
So, I am basically out $82 worth of accessories. I'm guessing some Gazelle employee is not sporting a brand new set of headphones.....
Gazelle.com sold me an unlocked phone that was still tied to someone's AT&T account
I tried to move to T-Mobile from AT&T. T-Mobile said the porting was not working.
I called AT&T and they said my phone is locked and the IMEI for that phone has a large unpaid past due balance. I called Gazelle.com who said they would never sell me a phone that is tied to an account. I added AT&T to the phone call so Gazelle.com could here it directly from AT&T that the phone is locked and tied to a defaulted upon account. Gazelle.com's response...show us your AT&T bill indicating that the phone we sold you does not appear on a monthly payment plan with AT&T!
I have to prove that the phone Gazelle sold me was not acquired by Gazelle.com under fraud, despite the fact that Gazelle.com committed fraud by selling me a locked phone with an existing bill. Gazelle.com got scammed.
They passed that scam onto me. SHAME!

Sent the wrong phone, then can't exchange
I ordered a Verizon Iphone 6s plus. They sent me a GSM unlocked phone that will not work on verizon.
We used the affirm payment plan to check out. So... if we return the phone and order another verizon phone, we won't be approved to make payments on a second phone. This was their mistake and they should fix this.
How can they not do an exchange when the product they sent me is the absolute wrong item?
I feel like the Verizon version is in higher demand with fewer to go around, so they send the unlocked ones out to those they think have less flexibility in payment methods to try to force them to keep the less desirable model. Now my daughter has to decide between having a quality phone, and having quality service despite our having ordered the correct one.

Purchased iPhone 6 Plus on 8/1/17 It was defective - white flashing band at top of screen and unresponsive to touch commands. So I called and got RO 8/18/17 and returned it.
They sent receipt of returned phone 8/25 That was their last communication despite my 2 phone calls to see where my refund was Never got my $450 refund as of 8/30 I have called and got run around and now nearly a week later no response at all ---pissed. Called PayPal to make a claim. Too bad cause I would have just bought another from Gazelle but now I think they suck BTW they don't allow you to just have another phone shipped I asked while asking where my refund was. They also tried to tell me that they were unable to send the refund back to PayPal I said there was no problems whatsoever with my PayPal account and that I've had it for many years and it has worked flawlessly.
I even check with PayPal to see if gazelle had tried to make a refund. PayPal said absolutely not when I told gazelleo that PayPal said no attempt to send refund was made they said oh maybe the problem is on our end. They said they would have a supervisor call me back in an hour to get this refund 2 days later no return call no email no refund no nothing.
I have filed a claim with PayPal and gazelle still has not responded. HORRIBLE SERVICE

Gazelle lost my phone

I purchased an iPhone 6s from Gazelle as I had been informed by an IT person they were great! So after browsing their website I selected one.
I purchased one in the middle category. I do not talk on the phone much so I did not realize that it was possibly defective for the first two weeks. Then my best friend said I was garbled. Then a few days later it was my husband.
I thought maybe it was the case. So I tried removing the case. I had no problems hearing them. Overall the gist is that is was the phone.
So by the time we figured out it was the phone we were at thirty days. Customer service was called and they agreed to the refund. They were to send out an email with a shipping label. I received another email that day for a promotion they spoke of, but not one with the label.
Unsure what happened to the email they said would send. So next day called back. They agreed to resend and said it had to be in mail or I wouldn't get a refund. It was sent in.
They received the phone shortly after. It's been 3 weeks no refund for me! We have called and they have confirmed they have the phone. Still no refund.
I wish I had gone through paypal so I could make a claim! not happy with this company. Thinking people may be better off selling them on their own then returning. Or better yet don't buy from this company to start with.
I definitely will not let any of my friends and family buy them. Or advise any one I work with! The return/refund only works in their favor when an unsatisfied customer doesn't receive their refund promptly!
They wouldn't let the customer try the product for 3 weeks before paying. So they have a very unsatisfied customer.

This seems to be the Gazelle policy. Promise one price, then switch it to a lower price that they will pay. They claim the condition of the item was not what was described, but time and time again, they pull the same dishonest scam.
I completely agree! I was offered $120, now suddenly I receive an email for $90.
They said the model was wrong, scratches, etc. Please! My cell was always in an otter box and the case never removed except when I was preparing to put in their box. Then they said it was "unlocked" and they further lowered the price, stating that mine was not "Verizon" as I had stated.
Bull! My carrier has been Verizon for years, and I had just paid that cell phone off through Verizon - it was Verizon.
LOL. Hoping they return my original phone, because what they described wasn't mine.
